Our Earth Day Tree Giveaway!

It is estimated that more than 1 billion people across the globe participate in Earth Day activities. Earth Day was celebrated this past weekend on April 22 with the goal of celebrating our planet and raising awareness of current environmental challenges.

“Our goal is not just an environment of clean air and water and scenic beauty. The objective is an environment of decency, quality and mutual respect for all other human beings and all other living creatures.” Gaylord Nelson, Governor and U.S. Congressman from Wisconsin and Earth Day founder

Earth Day was founded in 1970 by then Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin. He was driven to action after seeing the devastating effects of a massive Santa Barbara, CA oil spill the year before and started the grassroots movement to educate the public on the need to support environmental efforts.

IMG_3294It was with the help of the momentum of his environmental movement that the passage of the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act were signed into law by the Nixon Administration. In 1995, on the 25th anniversary of the founding of Earth Day, President Bill Clinton awarded Nelson the Presidential Medal of Freedom for being the founder of Earth Day.

Here at The Pet Beastro, we look to support companies that not only produce high-quality pet foods but also environmentally-conscious products. Through recycling and streamlined production efforts and initiatives like sustainable farming, we feel confident that the brands we partner with do their best to have a lower impact on our environment while also mirroring the value we place on taking care of our planet and our furry companions.

To celebrate Earth Day, if you purchase a bag of Earthborn pet food anytime through Sunday, April 30th, you will be entered to win this Double Weeping Cherry Tree. So whether you went with your favorite furry companion for a walk in the woods, decided to take your bike to the store instead of driving, planted a tree or even chilled at home and enjoyed your favorite nature documentary, we hope you had the chance to enjoy our beautiful home this weekend. And remember to stop in this week to treat your pet to some Earthborn and help contribute to clean air and a happy Earth!
